Corporate History

PT Mutuagung Lestari Tbk (“the Company”) was originally founded under the name PT Kiani Mutulestari, as stated in the Deed of Establishment No. 6 dated March 2, 1990, before Notary Jacinta Susanti, S.H., in Jakarta. The Company was officially ratified by the Ministry of Law through Decree No. C2-3293.HT.01.01.th.90 dated June 5, 1990, registered with the Jakarta District Court under No. 1233/1990 on June 19, 1990, and announced in the Supplement to the State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia No. 2831 of State Gazette No. 64 dated August 10, 1990. Since its establishment, the Company’s Articles of Association have undergone several amendments. Most recently, in preparation for its Initial Public Offering (IPO), the Company revised its Articles of Association through Deed No. 5 dated March 21, 2023, before Notary Rahayu Ningsih, S.H., in Jakarta. This amendment was:
  1. Approved by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights under Decree No. AHU-0017836.AH.01.02.TAHUN 2023 dated March 24, 2023.
  2. Recorded in the Notification of Amendment to the Articles of Association No. AHU-AH.01.03-0043827 dated March 24, 2023.
  3. Registered in the Notification of Company Data Amendment No. AHU-AH.01.09.0103136 dated March 24, 2023.

All amendments have been duly recorded in the Company Register under No. AHU-0058568.AH.01.11.TAHUN 2023 dated March 24, 2023.

History & Key Milestones

1990

  • MUTU International was founded on March 2, 1990, under the name Kiani Lestari.

1991

  • Actively involved in the development of the Indonesian Plywood Standard, which serves as the export criteria for Indonesian timber entering the Japanese market.
  • Appointed by Georgia Pacific (GP) — a U.S.-based pulp and paper company — as its representative to conduct quality inspections of Indonesian-made plywood destined for export to the United States.
  • Partnered with Japan Plywood Inspection Company (JPIC) to certify companies in accordance with the Japan Agricultural Standard (JAS).

1994

  • Entrusted as a Third Testing Organization by Japan Plywood Inspection Company (JPIC).
  • MUTU International expanded operations by opening a new laboratory in Samarinda.

1996

  • Appointed as a Foreign Testing Organization (FTO) by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF).
  • MUTU International received accreditation as an ISO 9001 Certification Body (LSSM-008-IDN) from the National Accreditation Committee (KAN).

1997

  • MUTU International’s Testing Laboratory became the first in Indonesia to receive accreditation from the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), under accreditation number LP-001-IDN.
  • MUTU International’s Calibration Laboratory received accreditation from KAN under accreditation number LK-009-IDN.
  • MUTU International’s Testing Laboratory in Samarinda received accreditation from KAN under accreditation number LP-013-IDN.

1999

  • MUTU International was appointed as a working partner of the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) for delivering certification services in Indonesia.

2001

  • MUTU International received accreditation as a Personnel Certification Body from KAN under accreditation number LSP-003-IDN.

2002

  • MUTU International’s laboratory was officially designated as the authorized fertilizer testing laboratory by Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade.

2003

  • MUTU International was recognized by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) as a Registered Foreign Certification Organization (RFCO) in Japan.
  • MUTU International received accreditation as a Product Certification Body from KAN under accreditation number LSPr-003-IDN.

2004

  • MUTU International received accreditation as a Food Safety Management System Certification Body from KAN under accreditation number LSSML-002-IDN.
  • MUTU International’s Testing Laboratory was officially designated by the Governor of West Java as an authorized laboratory for water and wastewater quality testing, in collaboration with the Depok City Environmental Agency.

2006

  • MUTU International became the first certification body in Indonesia to receive accreditation as an Ecolabel Certification Body from KAN, under accreditation number LSE-001-IDN.

2007

  • MUTU International became the first certification body in Indonesia to receive accreditation as a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Certification Body from KAN, under accreditation number LSSHACCP-001-IDN.
  • MUTU International partnered with the Indonesian Ecolabel Institute to launch certification services in the field of sustainable forest management.

2008

  • MUTU International received accreditation as an Organic Certification Body from KAN under accreditation number LSPO-002-IDN.
  • MUTU International was officially recognized as a Third-Party Certifier (TPC) by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), assigned code TPC-06.
  • MUTU International’s Testing Laboratory received recognition from the Raad Voor Accreditatie (Dutch Accreditation Council).
  • MUTU International’s laboratory was appointed as the National Reference Center for Parasitology (NRCP) by the Directorate General of Aquaculture under Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.

2009

  • MUTU International’s Fresh Plant-Based Food Laboratory (PSAT) established a collaboration with the Center for Agricultural Quarantine under Indonesia’s Ministry of Agriculture.

2010

  • MUTU International received accreditation as a Timber Legality Verification Body from KAN under accreditation number LVLK-003-IDN.
  • MUTU International received accreditation for Sustainable Forest Product Management from KAN under accreditation number PHPL-008-IDN.
  • MUTU International expanded into the People’s Republic of China by establishing a subsidiary, Xuzhou Mutu EPTS Co. Ltd.

2011

  • MUTU International received accreditation as a Food Safety Management Certification Body from KAN under accreditation number LSMKP-005-IDN.
  • MUTU International received recognition from the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).

2012

  • MUTU International was recognized by the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) Commission.

2014

  • MUTU International received accreditation as a Responsible Retail Certification Body from KAN, recognized by Assurance Services International (ASI).
  • MUTU International received accreditation as a Tourism Business Certification Body from KAN under accreditation number LSUP-017-IDN.
  • MUTU International expanded its laboratory network by opening new facilities in Pangkalan Bun and Pekanbaru.

2015

  • MUTU International became the first certification body in Indonesia to receive accreditation as a Greenhouse Gas Validation and/or Verification Body from KAN under accreditation number LVV-001-IDN.
  • MUTU International was recognized as a certification body under the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) scheme.

2016

  • MUTU International was appointed as an official Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) audit institution by Indonesia’s Ministry of Manpower.
  • MUTU International was designated as an Ecolabel Verification Body by Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

2017

  • MUTU International was recognized as a Third-Party Certifier (TPC) by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA).

2020

  • Expanded its certification portfolio with new standards, including ISO 21001 (Educational Organizations Management System) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System).

2022

  • Achieved accreditation for ISO 35001 (Biorisk Management for Laboratories and Other Related Organizations) and the Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability (CHSE) certification. Continued expanding branch offices across Indonesia.
