ISCC is one of the leading certification systems for sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions. In July 2011, the European Commission recognized ISCC as one of the first certification schemes to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the Renewable Energy Directive’s (RED) in the European Union. Furthermore, ISCC PLUS has been developed for application in the fields of food, feed, technical or chemical (e.g., bio-plastics), and other bioenergy (e.g., solid biomass).
Mutu International is the first institution in ASEAN recognized by the ISCC GmbH (Germany) system with ID number 215, for both the ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS schemes. Mutu International conducts ISCC Certification covering food, feed, chemicals, and energy (biofuels, bioliquids, and waste-based biofuels). ISCC certification can be applied to meet legal requirements in the bioenergy market share as well as to demonstrate sustainability and traceability of raw materials in the food, feed, and chemical industries.
Advantages of ISCC system certification
- ISCC covers the entire supply chain from the field to the consumer and ensures the traceability of the entire supply chain.
- ISCC is a global scheme that covers various types of biomass to be applied in markets both within and outside the European Union. ISCC is a one stop shop for companies, facilitating national and international trade.
- ISCC is practically proven: worldwide, more than 4,800 certificates have already been issued.
- ISCC is not a closed shop; balanced stakeholder representation and transparent processes are key features. This creates credibility in public perception and provides long-term security for companies using the scheme.
- ISCC guarantees highly effective and efficient audits and offers comprehensive ISCC system documents and other audit tools.
- ISCC provides a higher level of security for companies because ISCC also covers social sustainability issues, with little to no additional cost.
- ISCC offers unique and comprehensive tools for greenhouse gas calculations.
